What's True Today, and What We're Working Towards.

People will trust a payment service with their money, so this page starts with what isn't so yet. Everything below today's row is a plan, written in the future tense, and none of it is a claim that the plan has been met.

01 · Today

Where It Stands

What It Is Today

A specification, a brand, a design system and this website. Every screen is a sample.

What It Can Do

Nothing with money. Nobody can use it to make or receive a payment, and it holds nobody's funds.

Where the Licence Stands

We're working towards it. No application has been made. Whether and when one is granted isn't ours to promise.

The Licence We're Working Towards

A Licence Comes With Duties

The goal is the Enhanced payment service provider licence under Act 987. Nkonso Technologies Ltd intends to be the applicant, and it means capital, examination and rules on who holds the company. We've read what it asks, and we'd rather build towards it in the open.

  • Other activities need their own permissions, so they're not part of this plan
  • Any real payment needs the licence, the capital and agreements with the companies behind each route
  • Until then, every screen stays a sample
02 · The Plan

How We Plan to Treat the Rules

Each of these will be tied to the provision it answers, an owner, a test and the evidence that it happened. A checklist alone isn't evidence.

Records

Financial records kept for the longest period the law sets, and for no longer than a purpose needs. Secrets and card data never go into an audit trail.

Availability and Notice

The Payment Systems and Services Act, 2019 (Act 987) sets duties on keeping a service running and telling people when it isn't. Those duties will be built in, and tested, before any real payment.

Settlement Funds

Money waiting to be paid out isn't ours to invest or lend. Merchants' money, fees and our own working money will be kept and shown as different things.

Complaints

A free way to complain, with the clocks the law sets, and a person who can see what happened. Refunds that go back the way they came.

Financial Crime

Rules and scores raise a case. A person decides, with reasons, and a score is a reason to look, never a finding. Reports to the authorities are made by the officer alone, and only that officer can see them.

Identity

Checks through the national identity authority's own route, not pictures of ID cards. Only what's needed, kept for as long as it's needed.

Cyber Security

A security operations team of our own, regular reports, monthly scans, penetration tests twice a year and a red team once a year, as the directive for institutions like this asks.

Hosting

The aim is for the database to sit in Ghana once it goes into full service. Nothing real will be held anywhere until the rules for it are met. Sample data stays apart from everything else.

03 · A Different Room

The Officer's Work Stays Apart

The reporting officer's work will stay apart from everything else. This console will be its own app, always in the opposite mode to the rest. It carries no gold and no sales figures, and nothing in it reaches a customer or the merchant's support team.

04 · Your Data

Privacy, From the First Line

The Law It Answers To

Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) applies throughout: collecting, using, sharing, models, keeping and rights.

Automated Decisions

Anything a model suggests will be explained in plain words, and a person can look at it again.

Today's Form

All we keep today is the interest form: your name, email and what you run. See the Privacy Notice.
